The Governing body of the school consists of 17 members with Mr. Dongming Ou as the Chairman. They meet every term to discuss the overall management of the school and policy. The staffs consist of excellent teachers,qualified nurses, expert cooks and salted paediatrician who has been research in pedology for 30 years.

The Infant School Curriculum The Infant School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum. There are four core subjects: English, mathematics, science and information and communication technology (ICT). The remaining subjects include history, geography, design technology, art, music and physical education. The Reception Year In the Reception year, we provide a transitional curriculum that forms a bridge between Nursery education and the beginnings of the National Curriculum. It is based on the standards that Ofsted inspectors expect from children in Nursery and Reception classes. English Speaking and listening We teach our children to speak confidently and effectively in a range of situations and activities.

The children are also taught to become good listeners and to ask questions whenever they are unsure. Storytime There is time for at least one story to be read to the children every day. This is important because it enables them to hear more complex texts than they are able to read themselves. It extends their understanding and introduces them to more challenging books. Books and resources The Infant School has an enormous selection of books.

We are unusually well provided with “big books” for reading to the whole class and have a wide selection of carefully chosen Reading Scheme books, as well as hundreds of story books and non-fiction texts. There are book corners in every classroom and a large, well stocked library. Special sets of comprehension cards are used to extend the skills of the more able readers. Story videos, cassettes and an ever-increasing range of computer software support the children’s learning.

Mathematics Mathematical skills are vital in daily life and we want our children to be confident in them, whether adding up, using money, telling the time, measuring length etc. We also want them to enjoy mathematics for its own sake - to take pleasure in the excitement of mathematical discovery and problem solving. Books and resources The Infant School uses the Nelson Maths Scheme which is also used in the Junior School. We have a wide range of practical equipment, the use of which is vital if the children are to gain a thorough understanding of mathematical concepts. In addition, a wide range of computer programs supports the children’s mathematical learning.
